STEEN asked:
We want to dive the best dive sites as well, any advice? Maybe there’s a diving website with previous diver’s advice or tips?
We don’t want to waste our time, we want to dive the most popular dive sites – there are so many!
Maybe there is a certain resort were all the divers stay, and go the dive sites from there?
Please help!

How good is the diving on Palancar reef?
breazy1118 asked:
I am going on a cruise in a few weeks and will be stopping in Cozumel. I would like to dive there. I saw on some sites that the Palancar Reef sustained some damage during some bad storms/hurricanes. Can anyone give me a more up-to-date idea of how good the diving is at Palancar Reef? I’ll also be stopping in Grand Caymen so feel free to throw in any info about diving there as well. Thanks!
Answer by moviebuff
I make at least 2 dive trips to Cozumel a year (and have since year 2000), so I’m fairly familiar with the reefs there. My observation is that the Cozumel reefs have indeed deteriorated in the 10+ years that I’ve been diving there, but there is still plenty of healthy coral. As far as storms go, the double-whammy of hurricanes Emily and Wilma in 2005 definitely took a toll on the Cozumel reefs, but my perception is that most of the recent deterioration is due to bleaching (possibly from warmer water temps, diver stress, or ??). There aren’t any real large dead areas on the Palancar reefs, but some spots just look a little “rough” to me. However, since this is your first time diving in Cozumel you may not notice it as much as others who have been diving there regularly.
FYI, the Palancar reef system is essentially one long reef on the southern part of the island, with several different dive sites along it – Colombia, Palancar Bricks, Palancar Gardens, Palancar Caves, and Palancar Horseshoe are the main ones. The signature of the Palancar system is huge coral pillars that rise from the sand at 80-100 feet until they are 25-30 feet from the surface. Dives on Palancar are typically multi-level which start at the sand and then wind in around the coral pillars as you gradually ascend to safety stop depth. It really is a magnificent place to dive, sort of like swimming through a mountain range – I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Your second dive will be on one of the shallower garden reefs to the north of Palancar. Some of the shallower reefs did take a bit of storm damage that the deeper reefs escaped, so you may notice dead areas where coral was killed or shifting sand uncovered older, dead coral limestone. You should still see plenty of healthy coral and possibly more interesting aquatic life than on Palancar, but the reef itself won’t be as impressive.
Enjoy your time in Cozumel!
If someone dunks a diving bell underwater and
farts it up enough to surface, would the air be breathable?
Lucas W asked:
The diving bell would be dunked without air prior to farting it up, therefore the entire pocket would be pure fart. It would take more than a few people though to fart it up enough to surface, assuming of course, it could be done.
Answer by Your name here, cheap.
Who would be crazy enough to get in it and take a breath?
What is the best camera to bring SCUBA diving?
Question:
I am going on a big diving trip this summer and want to get a good digital camera to bring. The camera I have right now only goes down to 10 feet, which is definitely no enough. How deep should a diving camera be able to go?
I don’t want to spend a ton of money on it though. Any suggestions?
Thanks for all the suggestions but I would prefer to get a camera that goes underwater by itself, without a housing. Its less hassle and it sounds like the housings are pretty expensive!
Answer from Mmm J
Whichever camera with the largest lenses and imaging chips that fits in the underwater housing you can afford… with external lighting.
bhphotovideo has a nice selection of cameras and housings. Heads-up – the housings can cost WAY more than the camera. Then add the lighting and the power.
The deeper you plan for, the more expensive the housing. Ikelite, Amphibico and Equinox are a good place to start for the housings.

Diving????
Question from me..
hey.. i’d like to get into scuba diving. but i dont know much at all about it. im pretty sure i could do it because im a pretty strong swimmer and im not scared of water at all. ive also snorkled underground rivers and coral reefs. but id like to know as a beginner what should i get into or what type of classes i should take or if theres like anything i should do or just tips on the whole thing because i dont know much about it at all. thanks.
Answer by lovetilly
you’ll have to join an open water course. The duration needed to earn a basic certification depends on the individual scuba school. for me, i had to attend a theory lesson, a pool session, and finally go on one real dive trip to earn the certification. it’s not a sure thing though the dive masters will assess you while in the sea and you’ll have to pass the theory test. relatively easy questions.
after all that, you’ll have the liscense to explore the other world! good luck (; !
What are the bends in scuba diving and
how do they relate to Scuba diving?
Question:
What are the bends in scuba diving and how do they relate to Scuba diving? Please answer in a two or three paragraph response.
Best Answer
The bends are also known as decompression sickness and happens when you descend to depths too rapidly and your body struggles with the process of adjusting to the different environment under water. This allows for gas bubbles to to develop in the blood stream.
These gas bubbles occur when an ascent is made too quickly and the body cannot handle the speed at which the transition happens, which is why divers practice ‘decompression stops’ to prevent the process of decompression sickness. These bubbles which contain high levels of nitrogen then reach the divers lungs.
How do I do diving in the swimming pool?
Question from rockylad_75
How do I do diving correctly as in I won’t drown or have an accident. How do I not get scared when I’m diving. Just this morning, I wasn’t really able to participate in the swimming lessons because I’m scared of diving. How do I do it correctly? How do I do diving in a sitting and standing position?
Response by hapi halloween. well close to halloween
since ur a beginner, u shud try sitting first. put ur hands in a streamline position forward and look down into the water. then just put push urself into the water. u should always dive into the water hands first and feet last. make sure ur streamline is very tight. standing is just the same. you want to make sure you keep a tight streamline and hand first into the water. but the only thing different is wen you start on the block, you want to put your handes of the front of the block, one foot in front and one in the back. both feet should be facing the front. do not keep ur back foot flat; the heel should be off the block, only the toes should be on. wen u hear the starting gun or sumthing, you want to shoot your whole body forward. then immediately put ur hands into a streamline position, b4 ur get into the water. sum people prefer putting their heads up then quickly put their heads back to position. i dont do that and i dont recommend it. most likely u will do a body slam. trust me it hurts
what kind of dives should i be able to do to make varsity diving?
Question:
Also if theres anyone who knows a lot about diving I would love to chat so I can know a little more about the sport. I’d like to make the team this year & Ididn’tt try out last year.
Answer from ҽɱιʅყ
I’m not sure about varsity since my school it’s just one big team, but I know sort of what you need to get a letterman jacket.
Front double
Full twist something
Back 1 1/2
you have to score a certain score too, that’s mainly what it’s based on.
You can email me if you want, I don’t know everything though.
